EVENT SPOTLIGHT: There Goes The Poem open mic series

Join us at Le Mondo for a new monthly open mic and performance series: There Goes the Poem. There Goes the Poem is a monthly open mic for poets and performers to share work.

Occurring every second Thursday of the month, the event centers spoken word poetry but performers of all forms are welcome to share work as well. Previous nights have included poets, singers, dancers, rappers, and comedians.

Grab a drink, experience diverse performances, and be sure to stay after to meet everyone. Hosted by Baltimore performers Rebirth and Unique Robinson, There Goes the Poem is produced in partnership with Charm City Slam and All Eyez on You.

THE HOSTS

Unique Robinson, host of There Goes the Poem

Rebirth, host of There Goes the Poem in Baltimore at Le Mondo

Unique Mical Robinson

is a multimedia performance artist, poet, professor, and proud Baltimore City native. Unique’s work embodies the widely circulated feminist phrase, “the personal is political”. And yet, for her, this is no cliche, but a lived principle. Unique pulls inspiration from Baltimore, with all its pride, pitfalls and possibilities; Hip-Hop Feminism; and the cathartic, igniting verses of the 1970s Black Arts Movement (Audre Lorde, Gil Scott Heron, June Jordan, Nikki Giovanni, Lucille Clifton, & James Baldwin). Inhabiting an intersection of arts, activism, and community organizing, her life’s work is to inspire the artist in everyone she meets and to facilitate accessible creative spheres for healing within communities. In addition to over 20 years of curating and multidisciplinary performing, she is also the Director of MICA's MFA Community Arts Program.

Rebirth

is a spoken word poet, curator, and licensed massage therapist based in Baltimore, MD. Follow him on IG.
